HOODIES

Over the last five years, artist Tavares Strachan has spent his time conducting an extensive research project related to cultural invisibility and how important members of our society have been left out of traditional historical narratives. This project is the cornerstone of a work titled, “The Encyclopedia of Invisibility.” Here Strachen made his own version of the Encyclopedia with over 17,000 entries, currently spanning over 2,400 pages. The book examines the concept of invisibility through a cross-disciplinary approach: science, history, sociology, lost societies, and forgotten languages - tracing people, places, and things that have been overlooked. As part of Strachan’s Bahamas Aerospace and Sea Exploration Center’s (B.A.S.E.C.) newest initiative, they have created a series of hoodies focusing on the invisible people that are described in Strachan’s Encyclopedia.
